The R60 Countryman continues to do quite well, selling 1,710 units during the month of May. This is ONE more unit than last month's figure of 1,709. It has been very steady for the past 3 month at this number - a little over 1,700 units - and is proving to be a solid volume model right behind the hardtop models. On that topic, R56 hardtop models took a big hit compared to last month's number of 3,367. However, at 2,775 units, it's an increase of 22.8% compared to same month last year. Convertible and Clubman models continue the downward trend compared to last year's numbers, and also sold less than previous month.
With MINI Rocks the Rivals $1,000 off incentives, I was expecting better numbers. However, the decline was mostly expected by auto analysts due to part shortage caused by Japanese quakes and as many parts of the nation struggled to keep their homes afloat amidst floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.
